Jacko Lantern VS. JXT—Lantern.
The night began with this comedic match up, with Lantern making use of his height advantage over JXT. This made JXT mad, pulling at Lantern’s suspenders in rage. This anger perhaps got the better of JXT, though, allowing Lantern to pick up the first win of the night.
OCW Heavyweight Champion Andy Phoenix graced us with his presence as he asked which international superstar he’s going to face next month: Alberto El Patron, Mr. Anderson, Drew Galloway, Scotty Too Hotty or Ricardo Rodriguez. Phoenix’s opponent, Brad Smyth, interrupted, offended that Phoenix isn’t concerned with him. Phoenix asked us to cast our minds back to last month when Joel Bateman dislocated his shoulder in the tag team tournament: Phoenix told Brad if he’s not careful, he could suffer the same fate and won’t be able to lift his children. Brad snapped, warning Phoenix not to talk about his family again.
No. 1 Contenders Match for Tag Team Championship: Cadman & Vixsin (with Cletus) VS. Slade Mercer & Gabriel Wolfe—Slade & Wolfe.
Vixsin spent much of the match being isolated from her partner by Slade and Wolfe. When Cadman was finally able to get in the ring, Cletus got into a scuffle on the outside, costing his team their match. Disappointed at missing his shot at the tag team championship once again, Cadman deserts Vixsin and Cletus and heads to the back.
Maddog VS. Freddy FuZion VS. Mike Wheeler—Maddog.
This was a high energy match showcasing some of the best talent in Australia and how well they work together, replete with as much highflying as technical mat work. A triple suplex off the top rope and a double frogsplash from Wheeler onto FuZion and Maddog were perhaps the highlights of the match, with Maddog picking up the win using his piledriver.
Tag Team Championship Match: The Loose Bastards VS. Chicos de Lucha—Loose Bastards.
Despite KrackerJak’s lampooning of Chicos de Lucha before the match, this was an evenly paced, high-flying contest. Chicos even managed to get the better of the Bastards when KrackerJak inadvertently speared his teammate Adam Brooks. That was no skin off Brooksy’s nose, who broke up the Chicos’ two count with a swanton. The Loose Bastards were ultimately successful in retaining their belts which prompted the earlier-crowned No. 1 contenders, Slade and Wolfe, to jump them at ringside, holding the championships above the fallen Krackers and Brooks.
Robbie E. VS. Micky Jackson—Robbie E.
Micky Jackson is a poor man’s Aussie version of Robbie E, so it makes sense that they would meet upon Robbie’s first visit to Australia. Micky wasn’t too happy at the crowd’s apparent agreement, as he got on the mic to berate Robbie and challenge him to a dance-off. The crowd was also in agreement that Micky lost that competition which was then settled in the ring in yet another losing effort for Jackson, despite his efforts to best Robbie by knocking down the visiting former WWE referee Kevin Keenan and using a chair on his opponent.
Although she didn’t have a match, Kellyanne made an appearance, asserting that Demi Bennett’s victory over her last month was luck, and that lightning won’t strike twice for her. Demi, in a video message from Riot City Wrestling, told Kellyanne to stop running her mouth when she’s not there to defend herself… bitch!
OCW Heavyweight Championship Match: Brad Smyth VS. Andy Phoenix—no contest.
Phoenix and Smyth met in singles competition after their triple threat match with Syd Parker last month. Smyth was looking to settle the score with Phoenix for his earlier comments about Smyth’s family which perhaps got the better of Smyth as the action spilled into the crowd. Phoenix continued his previous controversial retention streak as the referee ruled the match a no contest with both men being counted out. Smyth had not yet had enough of Phoenix as they brawled at ringside and had to be broken up by the entire OCW lockerroom. Smyth got the upper hand on Phoenix one last time, diving from the ring onto him and the majority of the roster on the outside.
